A reprint of a book published in 1941, this edited collection criticizes the firing of Bertrand Russell from the City College of New York. Hired to teach courses in the philosophy of mathematics and science, Russell was deprived of the position even before he began it. A lawsuit was brought against the Board of Higher Education by a Mrs. Jean Kay, who charged that Russell should not be allowed to assume the teaching position because 1) he was an alien and 2) his writing and teaching promoted sexual immorality.
